Without expected, this morning I had a good talk with Ismail, a research fellow from Bangladesh, about the transboundary water problems among Bangladesh, India, Bhutan, Nepal and China. They have so much in common with the Mekong Delta of Vietnam and the River Plate Basin in South America. The hottest question now should be “How can we manage the negotiations among countries to maximize total benefits, regardless of the difference in scale. As the saying “Water is the oil of the 21 Century” (Fortune Magazine), this is such a great topic to discuss and research.
For now, let’s save here an act by UN about this problem, which has been very helpful to Bangladesh. We will come back later for further research.
